Persons in the News Chief Richard Tierney Heads Arlington Fire Department Arlington, Mass., Selectmen unanimously appointed Acting Chief Richard J. Tierney, Chief of the Arlington Fire Department. Chief Tierney has been acting chief of department since the retirement of his brother, Daniel B. Tierney, who had been chief for 24 years, last April, and who was for 51 years a member of the department. Chief Daniel B. Tierney although retired, still remains as secretary-treasurer of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, a post which he has held for many years. The new chief has been a member of the department for 24 years. It is understood he will appoint former acting Deputy Chief Thomas H. Eagan as permanent deputy chief.
