August Fire Losses Estimated fire losses in the United States during August were $55,416,000, it was announced by Lewis A. Vincent, general manager of the National Board of Fire Underwriters. This is an increase of 11.1 per cent over losses of $49,878,000 reported for August, 1950 and an increase of 6.1 per cent over losses of $52,220,000 reported for July, 1951. Losses for the eight months of 1951 now total $495,077,000 an increase of 5.3 per cent over the first eight months of 1950. These estimated losses under fire insurance policies include an allowance for uninsured and unreported losses.
