The ROUND TABLE For Practical Discussion of Current Fire Department and Fire Management Problems HYDRANT PURCHASE, REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE THE problems considered in this Round Table deal with fire hydrants and cover a number of subjects upon which there has been some difference of opinion. The questions asked, and the summary of responses to date, follow: Have you been able to limit the use of fire hydrants in your city to the fire departments only? Answer: Seven respondents answer “yes” and 76 “no.” If not, what other city departments commonly use the fire hydrants? Answer: Hydrants are used by the street departments, public works, etc. If other than municipal departments use the fire hydrants who are they? Answer: For the most part, contractors.
