F.D.I.C. SETS NEW RECORDS FOR ATTENDANCE AND INTEREST Over 1700 Registered at 26th Annual Instructors Conference in Memphis WHERE’S this going to end,” exclaimed one of Dick Vernor’s bewildered aides, as he checked over the final registration figures of the 26th Annual Fire Department Instructors’ Conference on the closing day, Friday, February 26th. For each year the Conference has continued to hang up new totals, regardless of economic, weather, or other conditions. The resounding total of 1,755 registrations, from over 40 states and the District of Columbia and Canada, and England, Sweden, Italy and the Canal Zone, comprises fire chiefs, fire instructors, engineers and other officials, insurance and fire prevention leaders, educators and others interested in fire suppression. Italy was represented by a dozen fire fighters, including their two interpreters, who are currently visiting this country to study fire control methods under the aegis of the Italian and American governments.…
