April Fire Losses Estimated fire losses in the United States during April amounted to $78,632,000, the National Board of Fire Underwriters has reported. According to Lewis A. Vincent, NBFU’s general manager, this $78,632,000 loss represents an increase of 0.9 per cent over losses of $77,933,000 reported for April, 1954, and a decrease of 10.8 per cent from losses of $88,197,000 for last March (1955). Losses for the first four months of 1955 now total $327,140,000, a decrease of 0.3 per cent from the first four months of 1954, when they amounted to $328,175,000. These estimated insured losses include an allowance for uninsured and unreported losses.
