CANADIAN CHIEFS’ SHIP-SHORE CONFERENCE OUTSTANDING Quebec Province Host to 47th Convention Held Aboard Cruise Ship and in Arvida NEARLY 400 members of the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs and their families left Montreal, Quebec, on Monday, September 12 aboard the S.S. St. Lawrence and returned the 15th in what all hands’ declared was one of the most outstanding of the Association’s 47 gatherings. Every stateroom and berth of the big cruise ship was occupied and it is reliably hinted that there were a number of ‘stowaways’ aboard. It was probably the first convention of fire chiefs in the world held aboard ship, with side trips ashore, in which the oral activities were carried on bilingually, in both English and French, the latter being the native tongue of many Quebec fire fighters.
