New Jersey Bans Dump Fires

Issue 8 and Volume 109.

New Jersey Bans Dump Fires An air pollution control measure went into effect May 1 in New Jersey. The first regulation issued by the State Air Pollution Control Commission was to ban the burning of waste material in open air. Exceptions allowed are the burning of leaves and weeds by householders, and industrial wastes where there is no other safe way known to dispose of the material. Violators of the code arc subject to $100 fine after 10 days notice.
