Telephone Reporting System Approved New Haven, Conn., city officials have approved a new public telephone reporting system for use in connection with fires, accidents and other emergencies. A target date of January 1, 1957, has been set for completion of the system installation. The new system to be provided by the Southern New England Telephone Co, was recommended by both the police and fire boards in the city, it was reported, and will replace telegraph boxes now used for fire alarms as well as private police telephone call boxes now in use. The plan calls for 376 outdoor telephones throughout the city mounted on poles or pedestals and housed in red metal boxes, including 75 with police signal fights.
