New Haven Field Day

New Haven Field Day Demonstrations of advanced fire fighting equipment are being lined up for the field day Saturday, June 11, that will climax the Connecticut State Fire College week. The event will start at 9:30 a.m. at the New Haven Fire Department training ground, adjacent to exit 48 on the Connecticut Turnpike. Chief Thomas J. Collins of New Haven is in charge. Special demonstrations include a portable foam tower and other methods of handling flammable liquid fires. A new ABC dry powder extinguisher will be displayed in action, with an Underwriters’ Class A crib as a test. In a demonstration of fireretardant paint, two 8-foot-square panels of acoustic tile, one painted and the other unpainted, will show flame action.
