FCC Drops Base Station Operator License

Issue 1 and Volume 117.

FCC Drops Base Station Operator License Recent action by the Federal Communications Commission removed the requirement that operators of base and fixed radio stations in the public safety services hold FCC licenses. The rule is effective for operations above 25 megacycles. The Commission stated this action does not relieve licensees of the responsibility for properly instructing or supervising operators in the performance of their duties.
