October Fire Losses Estimated dollar losses caused by fires in the United States during October totaled $109,522,000, the National Board of Fire Underwriters reported. This $109,522,000 loss represents an increase of 9.5 per cent dollarwise over $99,986,000 for October 1962 and an increase of 11.4 per cent over $98,352,00 for September of this year, according to Lewis A. Vincent, general manager. Dollar losses for the first 10 months of 1963 now total $1,197,534,000, an increase of 13.5 per cent from the first 10 months of 1962, when they amounted to $1,055,017,000.
