CONTINUED IMPROVEMENT Readers will note, beginning in this issue, two new columns. One is devoted to volunteer fire fighting practices and the other to industrial fire safety. Both are the result of our continuing efforts to provide improved service to the fire protection field. Several years ago we mentioned here that FIRE ENGINEERING is an “old” magazine among technical publications. At the same time we stated that in order to continue to be successful it is necessary for any organization to keep abreast of the times and remain young in outlook. Despite the fact we are now in our 87th year of continuous publication we approach each year, yes, each issue, as a new effort keyed to the times rather than to old laurels. The new columns are an indication that our editors are continually striving to provide useful information which will assist our readers to do a better job.…
