Tokyo Adopts New Badge The Tokyo Metropolitan Fire Board has discontinued the use of its gold lace arm badge and adopted a new metal badge to be worn on the left breast of the uniform. A prize was offered for the best design and Mr. Kudo, an engineer in the installation section of the board, was judged the winner. The gold-plated center of the badge is the official insignia of the City of Tokyo and the dark silver-colored metal encircling it symbolizes the crystal of snow. Made of German silver, it measures 19 mm. (about ¾ inch) in diameter.
