Fire Protection Scholarships Given Midwestern Students Twelve midwestern high school students have been awarded four-year scholarships worth $8,500 each to study fire protection engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. The scholarships have been awarded in conjunction with insurance inspection and rating bureaus through funds provided by investorowned insurance companies. In addition to having full tuition paid, the students will also receive an allowance of $250 a semester for room and board. The scholarship program is designed to interest young men in the profession of fire protection engineering, to help meet the growing demands of the fire insurance inspection and rating bureau. Awards are made on the basis of performance in a competitive examination and on the character, personality, physical condition and high school record of the applicant.
