Bonds Voted for Apparatus, Construction of 3 Stations Two bond issues to build fire stations and buy apparatus have been approved by the voters of Chicago Heights, Ill., an industrial city of 41,500 population. One of the three new stations will become the department headquarters with school and training facilities, including a drill tower with a smoke room, Chief Andrew Leoni reports. The present No. 1 station will be modernized. Apparatus to be purchased includes two 1250-gpm pumpers with high-pressure fog, a 90-foot elevating platform with a 1250-gpm pump and a rescue truck with an A-frame and a 20-ton winch. All new apparatus will have automatic transmissions and four-wheel drives.
