Total Involvement for Fire Protection The Editor’s Opinion Page Total involvement is probably the only way to describe the fire prevention program of the Philadelphia Fire Department. Starting with children in kindergarten, Philadelphia fire fighters work with and on all segments of society right up to the old folks in retirement hotels. And the record shows that this total involvement pays off in a reduced loss of life and property. Quiz games and chemical demonstrations, training programs for nurses and fire brigades, surveys of industrial properties for the most suitable fire prevention and protection methods, and high-rise coordinators who stress the need for fire drills in this type occupancy are all grist for Philadelphia’s fire prevention mill.
