The Round Table What type or types of turnout coats do you now use in your department? Are you satisfied with them? If not, what type would you like to see developed for the department? Harold F. Doherty, Chief, Fredericton, N. B.: We use a coat fabricated of heavy duck with a rubber lining, snap buckle fronts and elastic sleeve or wrist insertions. We have recently turned to a lighter duck. These coats have surely been serviceable, but in most cases they are quite heavy, especially when the outer duck gets thoroughly soaked. I have been using a rubber coat and find it much lighter, but not so convenient in the severe cold weather as it gets very stiff. I would like to see some firm come out with a good, tough nylon coat which would withstand the hard, rough use put to a fire coat under all conditions. I…
