Names in the News DEPARTMENTS Lausch Retires; Cummings Chief at Colorado Springs Fred Lausch, chief of the Colorado Springs Fire Department for over 20 years, has retired. He was succeeded by Deputy Chief Argus Cummings. Chief Lausch joined the fire department on December 21, 1929. He went on military leave in 1942, serving as a captain in the infantry in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He returned to active duty with the department on May 2, 1946. He was promoted to captain on July 16, 1947, and was named chief on October 1, 1947. He is a past president of the Missouri Valley Association of Fire Chiefs and a past president of the Colorado Fire Chiefs Association. Chief Cummings entered the fire department on May 1, 1947, and was promoted to captain on July 16, 1950. He was appointed deputy chief on July 1, 1959. Underwood Assistant Manager San Francisco…
