Water Towers Inspire Flow of Recollections Bells, Buffs and Blazes Members of the Fire Bell Club of New York recently were quizzed as to whether they could recall when four water towers were used at a single fire. The question arose when the buffs saw four of FDNY’s tower ladders on the scene at a fourth alarm in Brooklyn. Many members remembered that four water towers were to work on New Year’s Eve, 1933, at the Hotel Brevoort blaze in Brooklyn. All of which serves as a reminder that buffs, as well as professional firemen, continue to look back with nostalgia upon the glorious days of water towers described in recent columns.
