IAFC Elects Jimenez in Seattle Labor relations and an IAFC study on employing the disadvantaged were the leading topics of the 97th Annual Conference of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. Other panels and presentations at the conference held August 9-13 in Seattle covered a range of subjects that included handling of hazardous materials, coronary care and volunteer operations during civil disturbances. The registration of 1,531 members at the conference was the second highest on record. This figure was augmented by the 1,089 wives of members and an exhibitor personnel of over 900. Elected to office for the coming year were Chief Matthew Jimenez, Hayward, Calif., who succeeded Chief Walter H. Carter, Lynn, Mass., as president of the association; Chief Curtis W.
