Group Hears Research Plan Instructors society conference An outline of what to expect in the way of research and training assistance when the Fire Research and Safety Act is implemented was unveiled by Dr. John A. Rockett of the National Bureau of Standards in a talk at the fourth annual fall conference of the International Society of Fire Service Instructors at Clearwater, Fla. The conference, which was held October 30 through November 2, resulted in the appointment of action groups to develop guidelines for various training areas ranging from driver training to fire science college instruction. Rockett, who is chief of the fire research and safety section of the NBS, indicated that the first project his group would conduct under the funding of the Fire Research and Safety Act would be the improvement of turnout coats.
