San Diego Club Travels By Private Railroad Car DEPARTMENTS Bells, Buffs and BLAZES It can never be said that fire buffs go other than first cabin. Comes now the Pioneer Hook & Ladder outfit of San Diego, which recently rode in a private railroad car to Los Angeles, where they were the guests of the Los Angeles City Fire Department and members of the Box 15 Club. The Pioneers have 60 members (and the last we heard, one of them was Roi Woolley, retired editor of Fire Engineering). A group of them engaged the private car for the day. It was coupled to the Santa Fe’s San Diegan, bound for Los Angeles’ Union Station. The LAFD met them with buses and cars and took them on a tour of the department, including a stop at the San Fernando Valley drill tower at Station 89, where Heavy Duty Task Force 3…
