Louisiana Dedicates 25-acre Center for Firemen Training The dream of Louisiana fire fighters for many years has come closer to realization with the dedication of Louisiana State University’s Firemen Training Center on 25 acres 4 miles from the Baton Rouge campus. The training facility, hailed as the first of its kind in the Southeast, began two years ago with the construction of the recently completed administration building which houses classrooms, offices, laboratories, visual aid rooms and a film library of more than 160 films. The $256,000 administration building gives the staff the opportunity to better utilize the grounds used for training fire fighters, said Carrol L. Herring, who as coordinator of the Louisiana firemen training program is in charge of the center.
