Fire Technology Program in El Paso A two-year fire technology program leading to an associate degree has an enrollment of about 150 students at El Paso Community College in Texas, which is in its third year of operation and has a student body of 5600. The fire technology curriculum meets the requirements of the Texas Commission on Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education and is scheduled to fit in with the working schedules of fire fighters. Since most of our students work 24-hour shifts that break at noon, we offer each fire technology course on two consecutive days each week. For example, a course may be scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, and a student who is working on one of these days can attend the same class on the other days.
