Obtituaries Peter J. Hoey Peter J. Hoey, president of American LaFrance since 1971, died suddenly on February 16. He was 52. A native of Lynn, Mass., and a graduate of Tufts University with a degree in mechanical engineering, Hoey joined Ward LaFrance Truck Corporation in 1965 as sales manager. He was named president in 1967 and served in that capacity until 1971 when he resigned to accept the presidency of American LaFranee. Prior to joining Ward LaFrance, he operated his own consulting firm in Boston and was associated with General Electric. He was a director of the Fire Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers Association (FEMSA).
