Hose Load for 1 1/2-Inch Preconnects features After experimenting with various types of hose loads for preconnected 1 1/2-inch lines, two neighboring fire departments in New York State, one paid and the other volunteer, have developed a load that they feel meets their requirements. Their main objective was to devise a way of packing 200 feet of 1 ½-inch hose so that one man could stretch it to a fire with minimum effort. The Village of Endicott Fire Department, which is paid, and the Town of Vestal Fire Department, which is volunteer, worked together in testing a variety of hose loads. The two departments agreed that 200 feet of 1 1/2-inch hose was the ideal length for most situations in which they use a preconnected line.
