Limit on Radio Boxes Ends

Issue 11 and Volume 128.

Limit on Radio Boxes Ends The Federal Communications Commission has removed the limit on the number of emergency radio call boxes that can be installed in one system in the local government radio service. In a ruling adopted October 1 and printed in the October 14 Federal Register, the FCC ended the 250-box limit after deciding that any radio box signal interference with TV channels 4 and 5 is inconsequential. These radio call boxes are generally installed along superhighways for motorists to summon fire, police, ambulance or auto breakdown aid.
