Edmonton Loses Detector Battle But Continues War to Save Lives At this moment, in almost every major city in North America, a fire is blazing out of control. It may have been caused by a child playing with matches in the garage, a dropped cigarette in the stockroom of a store, or spontaneous ignition in a handful of oily rags in a factory; it doesn’t really matter. However, these fires started, they and other fires like them will all add to the millions of dollars of valuable property lost each year to fire. More importantly, fire will take the lives of hundreds of men, women and children, all unnecessarily. We all know the majority of fires could be prevented before they have a chance to start, but despite the education and information program instituted by fire departments and dire warnings by fire officials, few of us really do anything to…
