Issue 2 and Volume 130.

Jersey City CPR Program Five hundred twenty-five officers and men of the Jersey City Fire Department recently received cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificates. The training was given under the auspices of the Hudson County Chapter of the American Heart Association at the Jersey City Fire Academy over a four-month period. To implement the program, a number of positivepressure, demand-type resuscitators were purchased and assigned as regular equipment on battalion and division chiefs’ cars. In addition to the uniformed fire fighters, 30 high school seniors enrolled in the police/ fire science program sponsored by the board of education, were also taught the basic techniques of CPR as part of their regular curriculum.
