The Round Table There are about 400 colleges and universities In this country and Canada now offering courses in fire science which can lead to an associate or bachelor’s degree. At least 2000 fire fighters have participated in these courses and the number of schools offering them is constantly increasing. Do you encourage this interest in higher education In the men of your department? If so, have they reacted to this encouragement by signing up for courses? Finally, does the encouragement include any compensation such as time off to attend courses, assistance with tuition or possibly increased pay on attaining a degree?
