180 Mechanics Participate in 5-Day School In California features Seminars and training sessions for fire prevention, training, arson and related subjects are frequently held by various groups and agencies. In many areas, however, the fire service mechanic has been overlooked. This is not so in the West where the California Fire Chiefs Association has recognized the need for fire service mechanics to have opportunities to learn about the latest techniques and problems in their specialty. The seventh annual Fire Service Mechanics Academy of the CFCA was held January 31 to February 4 at Santa Ana College. More than 180 mechanics from throughout California and adjacent western states attended. Subjects offered Curriculum included rebuilding fire pumps, air brakes, hydraulic brakes, diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, electronic ignitions, engine failure analysis, repowering older fire apparatus and writing apparatus specifications.
