Fire at Abandoned Structure Injures Firefighter

Detroit, MI, November 15, 2001–A fire at an abandoned house, which spread to another abandoned house, caused the partial collapse of one of the structures. A piece from the partially collapsed structures fell on a 30-year old firefighter, trapping him for about 20 to30 minutes. He was transported to the hospital and was listed in fair condition. An occupant of the second house was able to escape. The cause of the fire is believed to be arson.
