Midwest/West Coast Fire Departments Contribute More Than $2 Million to NYC Fire Stations
Chicago, IL and Los Angeles, CA, November 28, 2001-Representatives from the Los Angeles and Chicago Fire Departments recently visited New York City to deliver more than $2 million to two fire stations that experienced losses on September 11.
Members of the Chicago Fire Department and its Golden Badge Society (a society of firefighter widows) presented a check for $789,165.50 to Engine Co. 230 in Brooklyn, which lost six colleagues in the World Trade Center disaster.
More than 120 members of the Los Angeles Fire Department made the trip to New York with a $2.25 million check presented to Engine Company 40 and Ladder Company 35.
These are only two examples of how fire department brethren throughout the country have responded to the tragedies of September 11.
