The United States Fire Administration’s (USFA’s) National Fire Academy (NFA) is currently seeking qualified individuals to serve as contract instructors for the newly developed course: Command and General Staff Functions in the Incident Command System.
The NFA will conduct two Contract Instructor In-Service Training Workshops. The first workshop is scheduled for November 17-21, 2003 (travel day is Sunday, November 16, departure is Saturday, November 22). The second workshop is scheduled for December 1-5, 2003 (travel day is Sunday November 30, departure is Saturday December 6, 2003). Participants selected to attend the workshop are required to attend ALL sessions. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preference for dates of attendance; however, there is no guarantee that you will get your first choice.
Interested individuals must submit the required paperwork no later than September 5, 2003. Any responses received after September 5 cannot be considered and will be returned. No facsimile applications will be accepted. To ensure receipt by NFA, we suggest that application packages be sent via return receipt or traceable delivery such as Federal Express.
The NFA will provide a travel stipend to/from Emmitsburg, Maryland, lodging at the National Emergency Training Center (NETC), and instructional materials. The cost of meals and breaks during the In-Service Workshop will be the responsibility of the participant. A meal ticket must be purchased at NETC.

Application packages that fail to address all of the instructor criteria or do not include the required documentation will not be considered.
Upon a thorough review of application materials, applicants will be notified in writing from the NETC Admissions Office of acceptance or non-acceptance. Application status will not be given out over the phone.
Participants should not make any plans to attend this program until the NETC Admissions Office has notified them in writing. This selection process will be based on a nationwide search. Should NFA receive an abundance of qualified candidates, an NFA committee will determine final selection based on the needs to balance the instructor cadre and the most qualified.
