Mayor Jason Mayrand, also a firefighter, says the area has few paved roads, no hydrants except in town, and remote areas that are hard to access. The jurisdiction’s rough terrain also requires a short wheelbase and high angles of approach and departure. This shelf tanker was modified with four-wheel-drive, a larger water tank, and a commercial chassis with a single axle for more mobility. The mini-pumper performs forest fire response and structural quick attack.
