JEFF SHUPE received the Cleveland (OH) Fire Department’s Firefighter of the Year award and was cited for his more than 33 years of service. He is assigned on an engine company, and during his career has served with some the city’s busiest companies. Click here to enlarge image Shupe (photo, center) has been awarded two medals of valor. He began his career with the East Cleveland Fire Department. He also teaches at the Cleveland Fire Training Academy and the Ohio Fire Academy. Shupe conducts training for firefighters across the country and is a regular Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) presenter. JOHN JOSEPH FREIDHOFF, a 12-year veteran of the Lake Erie Beach (NY) Volunteer Fire Company, passed away in a diving accident in Lake Ontario, September 19.
