FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate to Keynote 23rd Annual National Fire And Emergency Services Dinner

The Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI) is proud to announce that W. Craig Fugate, Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will deliver the Keynote Address at the 23rd Annual National Fire and Emergency Services Dinner on April 7, 2011 in Washington, D.C. The theme of the dinner program is “Remembering Honor, Courage and Sacrifice.  Over 2,000 state and national fire service leaders will attend the annual tribute to our nation’s fire and emergency services.

“We certainly are honored that Administrator Fugate accepted our invitation to address the dinner,” said Bill Jenaway, President of the Congressional Fire Services Institute.  “He has had a prestigious career as a firefighter, paramedic, and emergency manager.  Mr. Fugate has dedicated his life to keeping the citizens of his home state of Florida and all of America safe from all manners of disaster.”

A former firefighter and paramedic, Mr. Fugate was previously the Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management.  In 2009, he was appointed by President Barack Obama and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Established in 1989, the Congressional Fire Services Institute is a nonprofit policy institute designed to educate Congress about the role of our nation’s fire and emergency services in protecting our homeland.  The dinner program will also feature addresses by leaders of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus and a number of award presentations for fire and emergency services leadership.
