Hi boys and girls! Welcome to Sparkles’ Kids Zone on Firelife.com! Writing this column is so much fun because I get to share fire safety and all the adventures of the fire safety dogs!
As I mentioned in my last column, nothing says more fun than having your very own clubhouse! The clubhouse is very close to getting finished!
After the clubhouse arrived, it was time to get started on the inside!
First, the walls went up:
Then, while we were waiting for everything to dry, our friend Jason made us this really cool mailbox! This mailbox will go outside the clubhouse!
See the letters “FSD” in the picture below? Jason cleverly came up with this. “FSD” stands for “Fire Safety Dogs!”
The walls got painted next. This was an exciting day for us as the clubhouse really started to look great!
Then, it was time for the ceiling to get painted. Can you guess what the most important thing in the clubhouse is? If you said the smoke alarm, you are right! See the smoke alarm in the top right hand corner? We want to make sure that everyone is safe that comes into the clubhouse, so we put it up right away!
Do you have a smoke alarm where you live? I hope so! Smoke alarms help keep you safe and tell you to “Get out!” should there be a fire.
Siren the fire safety dog stopped by the clubhouse to see how everything was coming along! We put in a few pieces of furniture to use later and had a temporary piece of carpet laid down on the floor so his belly wouldn’t get to cold! He really liked the clubhouse!
Later that night, we live streamed our 5th episode of Sparkles’ Safety Spot from the clubhouse. This was the very first time that we had used the clubhouse to live stream! It was so exciting!
If you would like to watch the last episode of Sparkles’ Safety Spot, click on the video below! Tango helped that night!
The clubhouse is far from finished! Now, we are spending time painting fake bricks on the wall to make it look like a fire station! In our next column here on firelife.com, we will show you how the brick wall turned out!
In the meantime, here’s what the outside of Sparkles’ Clubhouse looks like now! Check out the new screen door!
Excuse the broken fence outside the clubhouse. The fence got hit by a tree during the tornado, so we will get that fixed next! The tornado didn’t hurt us and we were all fine! : )
In other exciting news, last week, we had so much fun visiting with Diane Feldman on Fire Engineering Talk Radio about the clubhouse! You can listen to the interview HERE!

FIRE SAFETY TIP
You should have a home escape map and practice your home fire drill two times a year!
Send me an email telling me what you do to help keep your family safe and I will share your story here on firelife.com!
FUN WITH SKYPE!
Would you like for me and the other fire safety dogs to come to your school via Skype? Ask a grown-up to click HERE to learn more!
Color me a picture!
If you color a page, send me a picture of it and I will put it up here on the Kids Zone! This month, I will take all of the names of children who have submitted coloring pages and draw the name of one lucky winner to win one of my fire safety books*, pawtographed by me! So, get out those crayons and get coloring, and good luck!
Well, that’s it for now. Until next time, practice fire safety every day!
E-mail the fire safety dogs!
