The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) will be hosting a live webinar on Monday, August 22, at 3:30pm Eastern, discussing the challenges of recruiting and retaining volunteer firefighters and how to overcome these challenges. The webinar is complimentary and lasts approximately one hour.
Many fire and EMS departments across the nation are struggling to find and retain volunteer members. Yet with volunteers making up 71 percent of the fire service, it is critical that departments have enough members to effectively protect their communities. This webinar will help departments identify ways to attract new volunteers and maintain adequate staffing levels.
The webinar will be hosted by Chief Jeff Cash, NVFC North Carolina Director and First Vice Chair. Chief Cash has been in the fire service for 30 years serving in both the volunteer and career sectors. As Fire Chief of the Cherryville (NC) Fire Department, Cash has been faced with – and overcome – recruitment and retention challenges.
