Fire Kills One, Injures Two in the Bronx (NY)

A fire in the Bronx, New York, killed a man, in his 40s, and seriously injured another man and woman, both in their 50s, as it quickly spread through a garage that was illegally converted into a residence, according to a report on the New York City Fire Department’s website.

In the report, the FDNY responded to the early morning fire in a detached garage behind a building on Bronxwood Avenue and Bartholdi Street. The garage had been converted into multiple bedrooms, a kitchen and dining room.

Fire officials are currently investigating the fire, which began in the kitchen, according to reports.
