Two firefighters from the Pleasure Ridge Park (KY) Fire Department suffered serious injuries in a house fire over the weekend. Arson investigators are investigating the fire, according to a report from WLKY (http://bit.ly/uOuUwK).
Firefighters responding to the 2 a.m. Sunday call got initial reports of occupants trapped inside the home. Sgt. Jeremy Wheatley and Firefighter Christopher Nelly entered the burning building as firefighters outside tried to contain the flames. The pair became cut off by the fire and had to exit through an upstairs window.
Nelly received serious burns to his hands. Wheatley received second-degree burns on his arms, back, and buttocks and was in the burn unit of an area hospital. Both are expected to make a full recovery.
