The Connecticut Fire Academy Sees 46 Graduates

The Fire Academy in Meriden, Connecticut, graduated forty-six firefighters from Recruit Class No. 48 on Thursday, December 22 after the group completed a 14-week training program, according to a report from the Litchfield County Times.

The graduating firefighters will represent 24 fire departments from across the state.

The report indicates that three of the graduates from Middlesex County paid approximately $2,000 to attend the Connecticut Fire Academy hoping to becoming career firefighters in the future as there are no firefighter positions available in their area. One new graduate, Steven K. Kindschi, is only 18 years old and a volunteer firefighter for the Killingworth Fire Department, but, according to the report, is ready to begin working when a position becomes available.

Kindschi paid for his time at the academy himself unlike some graduates who were sent to the academy after being hired by their fire department.
