Last week, firefighters were the target of water balloon, water guns, cans, and possibly rocks while walking back to their truck after reporting to a false alarm at a Alabama A&M dormitory in Huntsville.
After meeting with A&M officials, the fire chief told The Huntsville Times (http://bit.ly/HhYq4g) that it appears to have been a prank that got out of hand.
In the meeting, the A&M police chief said that a water balloon and water gun fight from earlier that morning had continued during the fire alarm.
Firefighters have responded to several calls on campus since then without incident.
Firefighters are accustomed to facing many hazards at incident scenes, but on occasion the human element may be one of those hazards. For more on protecting yourself in such situations, consider Ensure Scene Safety at Your Next EMS Call and New Free Firefighters/EMT Self -Defense Program Available.
