Firefighters Battling Large Brush Fire in NJ

Firefighters battling a large brush fire in the Meadowlands, that started near the Izod Center and spread toward the New Jersey Turnpike, are now playing a waiting game.

More than 25 departments have been called to work the five-alarm fire, reports The Newark Star-Ledger. ( A spokesman says that the departments are surrounding the fire and any buildings that could be in danger.

The newspaper had reported in an earlier filed story that the swampy terrain and tall grass prevented fighting the 100-acre fire directly. (
