Cleveland Firefighters Rescue Toddler

A Cleveland two-year-old boy remains in critical condition after firefighters rescued him from his burning bedroom early Monday morning, reports The Cleveland Plain Dealer (http://bit.ly/IatCTI).

Firefighters arrived on the scene and were told by the father, who suffered burns trying to reach his son, that the boy was inside. The newspaper details that firefighters could hear the boy screaming as they approached without a charged water hose.

A ladder was used to access the boys first-floor window, because heavy flames blocked the front and side entrances. Two firefighters entered through the window after breaking it with an ax and did a blind search for the boy who had fallen unconscious.

They found him and removed him from the burning home and quickly carried him to arriving paramedics.
