Firefighters Respond to NYC Boy Mauled by Dog

FDNY firefighters rescued a 12-year-old boy Saturday whose throat had been torn open by the family pit bull.

The incident occurred in East Harlem in Manhattan. Crews found the boy naked and injured in the hallway outside his fifth floor apartment, according to the New York Daily News (http://nydn.us/Mcfbki).

An EMS crew rushed the boy to the hospital. He underwent surgery and is expected to fully recover.

The boy’s cousin, who owns the animal, said he plans to euthanize the dog.
