One Killed and Two Injured in San Francisco Fire

One person was killed and two others were injured in a two-alarm apartment fire in San Francisco, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

The fire at a three-story, 12-unit building began on the second floor and spread to the third, a fire department spokeswoman said.

The unidentified person who died was on the second floor, she said, adding two others on the third floor were treated for smoke inhalation.

Neighbors said the fatality was an elderly man.

Seventy firefighters brought the fire under control by 10:20 a.m., but the building was badly burned and the first floor sustained water damage, Talmadge said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
