Six people were treated for smoke inhalation after a residential porch fire early Tuesday in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
One of the victims had to be led from the involved building by an officer, according to a report from South Coast Today (http://bit.ly/RVDEJF).
Officer Jonathan Pavao went up the smoke-filled rear stairway at 28 Cleveland St. and found a 53-year-old man who had wrapped a T-shirt around his face and was coughing.
All the victims were treated and released from a nearby hospital. The officer was not injured. Firefighters had control of the fire within an hour after the call.
