Former CA Firefighter Arrested in Arson at Fire Department Headquarters

A former Compton (CA) firefighter was arrested for suspicion of grand theft and attempting to set his fire department’s headquarters on fire.

Former Deputy Fire Chief Marcel Melanson, 37, was arrested at his home on Wednesday, according to an Associated Press report (http://bit.ly/12GQBNx).

Melanson is accused of stealing expensive radios that were part of a communications upgrade and selling them on the Internet. He then allegedly set a fire in December to try and destroy any evidence of the purported crime.

Melanson appeared on a reality TV series, “First In,” and was fired from the fire department after 15 years.
