A UPS cargo plane crashed Wednesday on its approach to the Birmingham (AL) airport, killing the pilot and co-pilot.
The plane crashed about 1/2 mile north of the runway on a street that runs parallel to the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, according to a CNN report (http://bit.ly/1cBuotk).

The cause of the crash was unclear.
